Magnificent Moscow…

A splendid day in Moscow draws to a close.

And a few words to describe the experience – awesome; austere; reverential; uniform; friendly; different; unmissable; clean; and very ‘Russian’…

We would recommend a visit – it’s worth the lengthy visa application process.

In a hurry now…

We are about to take the Metro to Yaroslavsky station where we’ll board the Trans-Mongolian Express for Beijing.

We may be out of wireless range for a while but we’ll submit a blog as soon as we can…

Moscow Metro…

Just arrived at the Best Western Vega hotel after negotiating the ‘Aeroexpress’ and Metro from Domodedovo airport. Great fun!

Being backpackers at 50 has some distinct advantages – we’ll discover them soon – but also disadvantages: Failing eyesight for one.

Scene: Moscow Metro – 23.00 – two 50 year old backpackers huddled over a Metro map trying to make sense of the Russian script with a magnifying glass! Fortunately a young Russian girl took pity on us and assisted.
